Do you like to reflect on the year that's passed and plan for the year ahead when you get a moment of peace? We are only a few weeks away from the Winter Solstice on 21.12.21, and the return to the lighter days will begin. It's a great time to take stock of where we are and what lies ahead for us in 2022.
When you review the year that's gone by how does it make you feel? How much energy did the events take or give, were they aligned with your values? We can spend a lot of time automatically 'doing' because that's what we've always done. Yoga can encourage you to slow down and notice that your ways and personality are changeable and you can evolve, practicing Yoga can allow you to let go of who you think you are to become who you're meant to be.
Some of you are joining the beginner's series which will start on Monday 3rd January @ Hadfield Scout Hut. It's fully booked now, but get in touch if you'd like to be on the waiting list or for the next series.
In our class we will learn how to breathe better, relax fully and connect our breath to our movements. We will break down some of the most functional and useful yoga postures and show you ways to modify each one so your practice is safe, relaxed and enjoyable, learning ways you can take yoga off the mat (karma yoga) and a simple flow you can do at home.
What will I need for my first class?
All you actually need to bring with you is a yoga mat and an open mind. (Mats are good value in TKMaxx & Decathlon and you can get them @ supermarkets and online. I would check the depth of your mat as it's good to be comfy, especially on your knees.)
However other optional items you may wish to consider are:
A blanket for comfort and warmth during savasana/relaxation, and also to assist with padding and protection for your knees during kneeling postures.
A cushion (or use a folded blanket) to assist with seated positions, it will also feel great under your head in savasana.
A yoga strap or a neck tie or dressing-gown belt all will work (I have a small stock of yoga straps to lend out during practice).
Yoga blocks to act as a raised surface for assisted support (I have a small stock to lend out during practice)
Think about wearing comfortable clothing that won’t restrict your movements and won't fall over your head to reveal any bits you don't want to reveal :)
Treat yourself kindly over the weeks ahead, acknowledge that this year has been another tough one as we continue to navigate the changes in our lives, we need time to process and make sense of it all.
Will you invite anything new into your life this coming year? Waiting for a sign to put self-care on your list? The next Yoga series will be a 6-week block starting on Mon 28th Feb 2022. The current students will be offered these places in the first instance and any remaining places will be offered on a first come first served basis...so if you're interested get in touch, let me know as soon as you can & I'll get your name down. https://pauseyoga0.wixsite.com/pauseyoga/contact-2
