Living our yoga off the mat
At Pause Yoga, practice doesn’t end when you roll up the mat. It continues in how we show up in the world and choose to support others.
For me, this is Bhakti in everyday life: not just something we speak about, but something we live through action. Each month, a small part of class income is directed toward initiatives that support wellbeing, agency, and opportunity in communities beyond our own.
Here’s what we’re supporting right now.
Global Support

Through Lincs2Nepal, our yoga community has sponsored Bishika, a young girl in Nepal helping to fund her education and essentials. It's a small act of solidarity with long-term impact, we started in 2023 and plan to see her right through until she finishes school.
Yoga is a journey and we’re walking beside her, too.
We’ve twinned the Pause Yoga studio toilet with a latrine in Nepal through Toilet Twinning, supporting clean water and safe sanitation. These basic things transform lives, especially for girls and women.
🪧 Look out for our certificate in the bathroom!

We support Lendwithcare, run by CARE International UK. It provides small loans to entrepreneurs in low-income communities to help start or grow sustainable businesses. Recently, this has included supporting a woman building her farming business.
How it works
-
100% of the loan amount is passed directly to the entrepreneur
-
The loans are repaid over time, depending on individual circumstances and business progress
-
As repayments come back, the money can be withdrawn or re-lent to support other entrepreneurs
-
Lendwithcare is funded through donations and Gift Aid rather than taking a percentage from each loan
Community Care & Connection
Our class does a festive donation drive bringing sanitary products to communities experiencing period poverty - Rebecca is on the list to volunteer as an occasional packer and delivery driver with Every Month, a grassroots group providing free menstrual care packs to those experiencing period poverty.
🩸Want to help pack or donate? Let Rebecca know, it's informal, inclusive, and always needed.

A few times each year, I offer free yoga sessions for those who spend their time supporting others, whether you’re a carer, volunteer, or working in a helping profession and live or work in our area.
These sessions are a small thank-you and a chance to be nourished yourself.
If you’d like to hear about the next ‘Caring for the Carers’ class, you’re warmly invited to join the mailing list or get in touch to be added.
During the darker months, it’s easy to stay indoors — but movement, fresh air and connection can make all the difference.
Winter Walking Wednesdays are free, community-paced walks designed to boost wellbeing, warmth, and connection. We walk briskly for an hour to get the heart beating and a smile on your face.
📍 Meet: Glossop Cricket Club car park
🕡 Time: Wednesdays at 6:30pm
🚶🏽♀️ Pace: Brisk but chatty – all welcome
No need to book — just turn up with comfy shoes, maybe a torch or headlamp, and layers.

In the warmer months, we head out for informal, friendly, and supportive outdoor swims in local spots. It's about connection, courage, and the simple joy of being in nature.
No pressure, no pace, just fresh air, cold water, and good company.
Interested in joining?
Get in touch and I’ll let you know when we next head out.
I take part in Kindness By Post, a national project that connects people through simple handwritten notes. It's a small practice I return to each year, a single card can shift how someone feels and I value being part of that wider circle of kindness as a way of offering steadiness and care beyond the yoga room.

This Is Yoga
These are small ways our community looks out for each other, doing what we can to support one another in everyday life. If you have a cause close to your heart or an idea for something local, feel free to share it, this space is shaped by us all.
